The West Chicago City Museum is excited to offer a hands-on art and history maker program, bringing the past to life through creative projects!
This month, we’re celebrating the many names of our community—Junction, Turner, and West Chicago—by creating hand-painted signs that honor each chapter of the city’s history.
Join us on Saturday, September 13 from 10 AM–Noon to drop in and design your own sign, or pick up a to-go kit to complete at home! Each kit includes a wooden sign blank, paints, brushes, and a historical reference sheet exploring why the town changed names and what each name represented in its time.
Did you know? Before it was West Chicago, our town was called Junction for the railroad crossing that shaped its growth, and then Turner after early settler John B. Turner. Each name tells part of the story of how our community grew and changed.
Can’t make it to the event but still want to participate? Request a kit and we’ll deliver one to any West Chicago address!
