12 Days of West Chicago Artifacts: Getting Things Done

12 Days of West Chicago Artifacts
As part of our 12 Days of WeGo History series, we’re celebrating the stories behind some of the most meaningful pieces in our collection. With nearly 40,000 artifacts to choose from, we couldn’t possibly pick just 12, so each day we are sharing a themed group that helps tell the story of West Chicago.

This year’s series is also in conjunction with our preparation for the 250th anniversary of the United States by highlighting local history in a national context.

January 1st is a time for resolutions, for setting goals, making plans, and imagining the year ahead. And here in West Chicago, people have always known how to get things done.

Today, we highlight artifacts from local businesses and workers who helped build and sustain our economy over the years. From small shops to big enterprises, these West Chicagoans took action and left a lasting mark on the community.

As we begin a new year and continue commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States, we’re reminded that progress doesn’t come from dreaming alone, it comes from doing. And West Chicago has always been a town that rolls up its sleeves.
